Mackerel, it’s a menopause must! There’s no better way to get your omega-3 fish oil quota than through this slick little dandy of the sea.
Omega-3 are the good fats that keep our heart and brain healthy. Mackerel are also an excellent source of protein, vitamins B2, B3, B6, and B12, and vitamin D.
For the doubters out there who find it too fishy, this easy to make pâté may change your mind.
It’s quick to smash together as a lunchtime bite. Try it on whole grain toast or rye bread, with a few pickles and some peppery watercress salad.
If time poor, replace the freshly grated horseradish with a dollop of horseradish sauce, and use Greek style yogurt instead of the cream cheese and crème fraiche. Can’t find chives? Use spring onions!
